CORRECTIONS

The Corrections Division is the largest division within the Sheriff’s Office, employing 24 full-time Corrections Deputies, a Transport Division, an Inmate Work Program Deputy, full-time Medical Staff, a full-time Mental Health Professional, an assistant Jail Administrator and the Jail Administrator. The Corrections Division operates two jails, the Detention Facility (Full-Service) and a Minimum Security Jail.

The Detention Facility is a 41 bed facility housing adult men and women charged with or convicted of Misdemeanor and/or Felony offenses.

The Minimum Security Jail is a 48 bed dormitory style facility. Even though the court might say that they will make it available, the jail makes final determination of who can be housed there. If an offender qualifies for the Minimum Security jail then inmates are able to bring in certain things with you. Inmates are allowed to bring in $100 cash at the initial booking. If you bring your own bible in you may take it with you when you are released.

The Ottawa County Dentention Facility offers programs for inmates including religious services, AA/NA services whether it be grouped or individual, and education services. All inmates have the right to the facilities, medical, mental health and dental services. Inmates upon booking access to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Inmate Handbook for any orientation services that are needed.

Friends and family members wishing to report a PREA Violation on behalf of an incareerated inmate call the RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-4673.

VIDEO VISITATION OF INMATES

The Sheriff’s Office has switched to a new video visitation system. Each person wishing to visit must set up an account with ICSolutions at https://www.icsolutions.com/. The website will advise of all rules pertaining to video visits and the disclaimer that if rules are violated, visitation privileges can be suspended or terminated. Video visitation can now be conducted using any device. You can download the “ICS Mobile” application at no cost by searching “ICSolutions” in your phone’s respective app store. GUIDELINES FOR INMATE MAIL

Effective, May 27, 2024, the Ottawa County Correctional Facilities will no longer accept mail (other than legal processes). This includes packages.

Mail must be sent to the following address and in the proper format:

Ottawa County Detention Center
Inmate Name, Inmate Identifier
PO Box 247
Phoenix, MD 21131

After receipt, ICSolutions will scan mail into the system, it will be sent to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. The mail will then be reviewed by staff and either approved or rejected.

Reasons for a letter or package to be rejected include but are not limited to:

Vulgar references(sexual or abusive);
References to any illegal activity such as drug abuse;
Anything that would disrupt the facillity and the inmate’s mental well-being;
Photos or pictures where the subjects are not fully dressed. No sexual poses or pictures of drugs or use of drugs.

All mail, including photographs, once approved will be able to be accessed by the inmates on the video terminals in each range.

Effective May 17th, 2022, any mail (other than legal processes) received at either Correctional Facility will be returned to sender. It will not be given to the inmates. No money order accepted.
